Blessing Funeral home was originally named "Wood Notes", this structure was built in 1877 as a residence for the founder of the Mansfield Male and Female College, John C. Collier. The college operated from 1870 to 1877 and produced outstanding graduates and community leaders.

From 1890 to 1909, the A. J. Dukes family owned the Collier house. They made major alterations to the house. Occupants of home from 1909 until 1944 were graduates of the Mansfield Male and Female College. The house was adopted as the first funeral home in Mansfield by T. E. Blessing in 1944 and has remained such to this day.

While remodeling we found the original wood flooring and re-finished it to bring out beauty of the colonel structure.

Adjacent to the funeral home is our chapel that holds approx. 375, The largest funeral chapel in Mansfield.
