Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn was founded in 1963 by Jerry and Pat Edwards. The location of the funeral home was originally the George J. Watson home, built in 1919 from plans drawn from a plantation home in West Virginia. The building has double brick walls, imported Italian granite railings and seven coal-burning fireplaces. The Edwards family has continued to serve families in the area for over 47 years.

Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland started out as Barrow Furniture &
Undertaking Co. in 1919. In 1929 Ben Hamner bought the business from Mr. Barrow. About the same time he purchased the Carbon Trading & Undertaking Co. from Mr. Speer. After a short time he closed it down and combined it with his funeral home in Eastland. He operated it until 1963 when he sold it to Jack and Eula Arrington. They operated the funeral home until Jerry and Pat Edwards purchased it in 1979. The Edwards family has continuously operated the business for over 31 years.
